INA Boy’s Escape
Overview
IN is an animated short I created in my dormitory during the COVID-19 lockdown. The entire animation was hand-drawn frame by frame using Procreate. The story follows a young boy who is drawn into a vortex of virtual information, gradually becoming engulfed and trapped. Eventually, he longs to escape and return to his authentic, natural self.The animation gained hundreds of thousands of views on Xiaohongshu, along with over 30,000 likes, saves, and interactions.

Inspired by the works of Japanese animation artist Masanobu Hiraoka, I experimented with fluid graphic transitions to create a dreamlike sense of continuous flow.
On April 11, 2022, I released the animation on Xiaohongshu, which received hundreds of thousands of views, nearly 30,000 interactions, and over 400 comments. Many viewers shared that the animation's dreamlike quality evoked memories of their past. As a creator, reading through these messages filled me with a quiet and unexpected warmth.
